Matheus Franca has now sent a message to Jean-Philippe Mateta after watching his Crystal Palace teammate score for France at the Olympic Games.
The man from Sevran fired Thierry Henry’s side into a quarter-final clash against Argentina on Friday with a lovely finish to open the scoring against New Zealand on Tuesday evening, with France eventually winning 3-0.
So, what did Matheus Franca say to Crystal Palace No.14 Jean-Philippe Mateta after his goal? Let’s take a look…
What Matheus Franca sent to Jean-Philippe Mateta
The 27-year-old is clearly a popular man at Selhurst Park, as a number of his Crystal Palace teammates congratulated him after the strike against New Zealand.
Franca wrote “JP ❤️” in the comments section of Mateta’s post, while David Ozoh and Odsonne Edouard also reacted.
The latter simply sent his fellow Frenchman a string of fire emojis – to emphasise that he is in red hot form in front of goal.

Mateta – who is a target for Aston Villa – has now scored 14 goals in his last 16 appearances for Crystal Palace and France.
In regards to Ozoh’s message, the England U20 international sent the striker a smiley face emoji – in response to Mateta’s post celebrating qualification from the Olympic Games Group Stage.
Crystal Palace No.11’s whereabouts are a mystery
On the topic of Franca, his current situation is clouded in uncertainty.
The Brazilian is nowhere to be seen in Crystal Palace’s pre-season friendlies or training footage this summer, and Oliver Glasner is yet to make any comment on the South American’s whereabouts.

Franca did miss the final 11 Premier League games of last season with a groin problem, although that was not expected to keep him sidelined into the summer as well.

Hopefully, the 20-year-old appears on the pitch at some point during our tour of the United States, as the Brazil U20 international needs to impress in the 2024/25 campaign after a quiet debut season.
