Meet the six Crystal Palace academy stars Oliver Glasner is now set to take on USA pre-season tour

Crystal Palace are taking flight for their pre-season tour of the USA, which will see them take on Wolves and West Ham.

The Eagles are set to test the squad fitness as preparations step up for a first full Premier League campaign under Oliver Glasner.

The Crystal Palace boss has impressed in his short spell so far, with plenty more expected from a summer of new transfer additions.

With pre-season giving the Selhurst Park faithful another taste of what is to come this season, there will also be a glimpse into a potentially bright future.

Recent reports have claimed that six Crystal Palace academy stars will join the pre-season squad for the tour of the USA.

Those six are Franco Umeh, Caleb Kporha, Asher Agbinone, Justin Devenny, Roshaun Mathurin and Mofe Jemide.

So with that said, here’s everything you need to know about the up-and-coming academy stars.

Who is Franco Umeh?

Franco Umeh is an academy star who has been talked about as a breakthrough prospect for some time at Crystal Palace.

The 19-year-old is a versatile forward who is capable of playing as a winger on either flank or behind the striker.

Palace signed the youngster from Cork City in 2023 and he has plenty of experience in the Republic of Ireland youth international ranks.

Umeh made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 last season, scoring nine goals and assisting once in that time.

He has been touted as a potential option to shadow Tyrick Mitchell in the left-wing-back role for the upcoming season.

Umeh has featured in five Premier League matchday squads at Palace but is yet to be handed his full senior debut.

Who is Caleb Kporha?

A versatile defender, Caleb Kporha is an 18-year-old who predominantly plays as a right-back but can also play on the left or on the wing.

Kporha made three appearances in the Premier League 2 last season following a first professional deal with the club.

“It’s a very proud moment for me and my family,” the England youth international told the official Crystal Palace website at the time. “It’s a dream come true for me and I’m looking forward to the future here at the club.”

Who is Roshaun Mathurin?

Roshaun Mathurin is a winger from the Crystal Palace academy who is capable of playing on either flank.

The 20-year-old made 19 appearances in the Premier League 2 last season, scoring four goals and assisting five.

The youngster, who made his way through the Tottenham and Chelsea academy before joining Palace, featured in two matchday Premier League squads last season.

Who is Justin Devenny?

Justin Devenny is a versatile midfielder who has plenty of senior experience at just 20 years old, even before he joined Crystal Palace.

The Northern Ireland youth international can play in central midfield as well as on the wings or forward areas if required.

Devenny joined Palace in 2023 from Scottish outfit Airdrieonians, making appearances in the second and third tier of the nation’s football pyramid.

Last season, the midfielder made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2, notching up four goals and two assists.

Who is Mofe Jemide?

At just 17 years old, Mofe Jemide is a young centre-back in the Crystal Palace academy ranks looking to make it at the very top.

Last season, Jemide made three Premier League 2 appearances and played 12 games in the under-18s Premier League.

The youngster has previously received ten caps for England at under-17s level.

Who is Asher Agbinone?

Asher Agbinone is a forward who predominantly plays as a left-winger but is also capable of playing on the right or upfront.

The 18-year-old made 13 appearances in the under-18s Premier League – with eight goals scored – as well as three matches at Premier League 2 level.
