Danish media have delivered a brutal verdict on the performance of Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen after last night’s victory.
The 27-year-old played 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against San Marino, with Andersen completing the most passes of anyone on the pitch (104).
He picked up a yellow card in the second half for a foul, but the real killer for him and Denmark was conceding to San Marino – a nation ranked 207th in the world.
Their goal against Andersen’s Denmark was their first since a 1-1 draw against Saint Lucia in November 2022.

After the encounter, Danish outlet Bold.dk delivered their ratings.
It is safe to say they were very harsh, giving Palace defender Andersen a lowly 2/10 and claimed: “It was not to be seen that Andersen turns out in the Premier League on a daily basis.
“The Danish centre-back sailed around at the start, making San Marino’s forwards look like world stars.
“He constantly lost the ball, while it was not many duels that he won. The worst international match in a very long time.”
Andersen can’t let last night knock his confidence
The Palace defender has been outstanding for the club so far in both attack and defence. He has also formed a great partnership with fellow centre-back Marc Guehi.
He scored a brilliant goal at Old Trafford earlier this season, with the 27-year-old also scoring in the 1-1 draw with Brentford.
Although he received a scathing verdict from the media in his homeland, it’s crucial he picks up where he left off for Palace against Newcastle on Saturday to help preserve the club’s great start to the campaign.
