Gary Lineker and Danny Murphy have been speaking about Dean Henderson after the 2-2 draw between Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

The 26-year-old was the topic of conversation during analysis on BBC Match of the Day.

So, what was said about Crystal Palace No.30 Dean Henderson? Let’s take a look…

What was said about Dean Henderson?

Well, the England international made his first Premier League start for Crystal Palace on Saturday following a £20m move from Manchester United in August.

Henderson was superb as we snatched a surprise point, notably making one outstanding fingertip save from Bernardo Silva’s curled effort in the second half.

Shay Given was full of praise for the Whitehaven-born glovesman on BBC Match of the Day, although Murphy and Lineker ended up joking about the fact he cramped up following that aforementioned save.

Murphy said: “He gets cramp here. Goalkeeper having cramp? Is that normal? I have not seen that for a long time.”

Lineker added: “It is quite amusing”.

In fairness to Henderson, it was his first Premier League start in roughly 12 months, so he can be forgiven after cramping up a bit.

Dean Henderson could be about to announce himself at Crystal Palace

Henderson has needed to be patient since arriving at Selhurst Park.

The Manchester United academy graduate initially took a place on the bench behind Sam Johnstone, before suffering an injury just minutes into his debut during our 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat against the Red Devils.

Henderson has only just recovered – coincidentally as Johnstone suffers an injury of his own – so it is now time for the £20m man to show why such a hefty sum was invested in his signature last summer.

With Brighton coming to Selhurst Park on Thursday, Henderson even has a chance to become an immediate fan favourite – in what will be his first Crystal Palace start in SE25.
