Oliver Glasner made a little bit of history at Crystal Palace today after winning his first match in charge.
The Austrian was presumably delighted as goals from Chris Richards, Jordan Ayew and Jean-Philippe Mateta secured a convincing 3-0 win over Burnley.
So, what piece of history has Oliver Glasner achieved at Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
Oliver Glasner makes Crystal Palace history
Well, the 49-year-old has now become just the second manager in history to win their first Premier League game in charge of Crystal Palace.
Alan Pardew is the only other manager to achieve the feat, having recorded a 2-1 win over Tottenham in his first match as Crystal Palace boss back in 2015.
To put it simply, things could not have gone much better for Glasner on his debut in the Selhurst Park dugout.
The man from Salzburg watched on gleefully as Crystal Palace recorded their biggest win of the 2023/24 campaign so far, while there was also a clean sheet to act as the icing on the cake.
In truth, the scoreline could have been even more attractive for the Eagles – Odsonne Edouard clipped the crossbar in the opening 45 minutes.
Oliver Glasner wins trust of supporters almost immediately
All season long, Crystal Palace fans have been calling for Matheus Franca to play.
For whatever reason, Roy Hodgson constantly overlooked the Brazilian, but the Brazil U20 international made the 76-year-old look rather silly today as he provided two assists to secure all three points.

Glasner switched Odsonne Edouard for Franca at just the right time, and – finally – we also got to see Naouirou Ahamada in central midfield, where the Frenchman had a positive impact rather than being stuck out wide.
After months of bizarre decisions from Hodgson and widespread frustration amongst the fanbase, it feels great to finally have someone in charge who understands the supporters.
