Crystal Palace could soon be handed a significant boost in the injury department as Michael Olise is nearing a return to training, according to reports.
Crystal Palace have had a difficult season however, with 10 games to play in the 2023/24 campaign, there is time for things to get better at Selhurst Park.
Oliver Glasner was cruelly denied his second win in the last kick of the game against Luton Town on Saturday, as Palace set an unwanted record by failing to hold on to a lead once again.
The tests will keep coming for the Austrian as the season nears the home straight although, reports have suggested that the Eagles could soon be handed a boost on the injury front.
Michael Olise nearing return from injury
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Michael Olise is ‘ready’ to return to training this week in what will be a major help for Glasner.
Nixon claimed that the 22-year-old ‘hopes’ to be back in contention after the international break after being absent since the damning defeat to Brighton last month.
“Michael Olise is ready to start training at Crystal Palace this week and hopes to be back in the first team after the international break.”
“The attacking star hopes his hamstring problem is sorted and is trying to get ready for Oliver Glasner’s side as soon as possible.”
How important Michael Olise return will be for Crystal Palace
The loss of Olise at the start of February was both avoidable and devastating however, Glasner could soon field the attacker for the first time in his system.
One thing that the manager will not want to do is rush the attacker back into matches, as Roy Hodgson knows too well the repercussions of after his damning 11-minute cameo against Brighton proved to be too soon.
After seeing the early impact that the manager has made on Palace going forward, it’s an exciting prospect to hear that the 22-year-old is nearing a return, particularly when reflecting on his form prior to his injury woes.
In his previous five games for the Eagles in the Premier League, Olise contributed to eight goals, scoring five and assisting three to showcase just how integral he is to the squad.
With a run of crucial games from after the international break to the end of the season, Glasner could integrate the Frenchman into his side to reap the benefits of his talents for the first time, a move that could finally bolster Palace’s form.
