Oliver Glasner has shared what he told Matheus Franca before the Crystal Palace No.11’s stunning display against Burnley.

The 19-year-old came on for Odsonne Edouard in the 66th minute, providing two assists to help the Eagles secure a resounding 3-0 win.

So, what did Oliver Glasner say to Matheus Franca before Crystal Palace defeated Burnley? Let’s take a look…

What Oliver Glasner told Matheus Franca

Well, the Austrian shared a conversation he had with the Brazil U20 international earlier this week ahead of today’s 3-0 victory over Burnley.

As quoted by Dom Smith of the Evening Standard, Glasner said: “He had a big impact. He showed confidence. I spoke with him this week that he’s excellent in one-on-one situations but he maybe didn’t take the one-on-one situations as often as he could, but it’s his credit (that he took risks).”

Whatever the 49-year-old said to Franca at Copers Cope, it paid off within minutes.

The Brazilian injected energy into today’s Premier League clash, and it was no coincidence that Chris Richards put us 1-0 up just two minutes after the South American’s introduction.

Franca then did his best Wilfried Zaha impression to skip past a couple of Burnley defenders and drill a delightful cross towards the back post, which led to Jordan Ayew making it 2-0 in the 71st minute.

An assist for the £26m man just five minutes after replacing Edouard? Talk about an instant impact.

Matheus Franca has arrived at Crystal Palace

It may only have been a 24-minute cameo from Franca, although it felt like a coming of age performance from the teenager.

Franca took responsibility when the pressure was on Crystal Palace – it was becoming a bit of a nervy affair before Richards scored, with thousands inside Selhurst Park thoroughly expecting the Eagles to pick apart the ten men of Burnley.

Not only did the gem from Rio de Janeiro assist Ayew, but he also won the penalty for Jean-Philippe Mateta to dispatch after showing some quick feet in the box.

At last – after some awful treatment from Roy Hodgson – it feels like Franca has arrived at Crystal Palace.
