Former Crystal Palace player Johannes Ertl has now shared his optimistic verdict on whether Oliver Glasner will be a success at Selhurst Park.
Oliver Glasner has got the Crystal Palace fanbase excited and after what’s been a torrid campaign thus far, now it looks like fortunes could change.
In Glasner, Palace have acquired a Europa League winner and there’s hope he’ll bring that winning mentality and confidence to Selhurst Park.
Now, a former Palace man has claimed that with Glasner, Steve Parish has found the perfect match which could bring Palace to the top.

Johannes Ertl talks up Glasner’s arrival at Crystal Palace
Johannes Ertl spent three seasons at Selhurst Park from 2008/09 until 2010/11. Despite spending just three years there, he is extremely supportive of the Eagles and has now shared his view on Glasner’s arrival.
“I’m still very connected to the club. Especially with the fans,” he told Der Standard.
“(They’re a) perfect match. It’s a huge opportunity for Glasner because he can implement his ideas, his structures and his DNA. And he has already achieved that at his previous clubs. And for the club, it is also a huge opportunity for reorientation.
“With this squad, he has to stay at the top, no question about it. The club is very special, you get off at the train station, walk past a few pubs and suddenly you’re at Crystal Palace.
“A special atmosphere. The fans are fantastic. There are no huge claims. A solid midfield position and a clear game structure and they would be happy. And what Glasner has achieved at his previous clubs would be a huge success.”
Glasner is perfect to finally realise Steve Parish’s Palace dream
In December, there were some Parish comments from 2015 which re-emerged. These saw the Palace co-owner admit he wanted to see Palace win a Premier League.
“I am not saying this investment will see us lift the title next season but in ten to 15 years we can win the Premier League… what’s the point of being in the game if you’re not trying to win things?”
Now, while we aren’t saying that Palace will win the league anytime soon at all, Glasner is a manager of the class and pedigree required to at least make steps in that direction.
