Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Another Crystal Palace player is attracting interest as the latest reports suggest that Liverpool are considering whether to make a move for Cheick Doucoure.
That’s according to the Liverpool Echo.
So, what’s the latest on Liverpool’s interest in Doucoure? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are looking for a long-term successor to Brazilian international Fabinho. The report shares that the midfielder could be moving to Saudi Arabia.
There are potential options that the club could look at that are more for the present than the future. Despite this, Liverpool apparently fancy a younger player with lots of potential.
This has seen them turn their attention towards Doucoure. They are considering him at this current time. The report goes on to say that he was signed by Crystal Palace for £21million.
For now, they are only considering whether to make a move this summer. With two midfielders already signed by Liverpool they may want to completely rebuild this summer and sign Doucoure.
Crystal Palace must not sell Doucoure this summer
Crystal Palace only signed Doucoure a season ago and we should not feel the need to sell him so soon after a fantastic first season.
The Mali international, who is still only 23 years-old, is a top midfielder and was pivotal last season for the Eagles. He also won the Player of the Season award at the club.
With Joachim Andersen linked away, and other reports suggesting Marc Guehi is attracting interest, as well as Wilfried Zaha not currently signing a new deal, the Eagles must keep Doucoure.
They cannot afford to lose all their top talents in one transfer window. It will be far too hard to replace multiple players in one summer.
With Michael Olise also reportedly missing the start of the season due to injury, it seems like a no-brainer to block any potential move for Doucoure this summer.
The midfielder is great defensively and can also help our attacks. His position feels like one of the most-important at the club so Palace need to keep him. If he performs fantastically at the club next season no doubt his price tag will be even higher.
