Crystal Palace are expected to increase their annual matchday revenue by up to £8 million from the 2024 expansion of Selhurst Park.
A report from Football Insider confirms that Palace’s 2021/22 financial report stated £14.1 million came from matchday revenue.
However, with the expansion of Selhurst Park set to start next year, it is expected that the 8000 added new seats would bring an extra £8 million in revenue to the club.
The new main stand would allow for a figure of £22 million in matchday revenue to be generated, an increase of 36% from 21/22.
A needed refurbishment for Selhurst Park
Although the plans revealed the new stand would cost Steve Parish around £100m, the Football Insider report confirms that it’s expected to cost towards £150m – a huge increase.
These figures are new to Palace fans, who haven’t been kept in the loop of costs and or potential profits that the new stand would bring to the club.
The figures revealed are just an estimate, which could be further boosted by the club shop and hospitality suites that are also included within the new proposed main stand.
Work is desperately needed on the stand, with Palace fans getting their wish this summer when work will finally commence – which could take up to two years to complete.
The new stand has been a long time coming
The original planning permission was granted back in 2018, with the new main stand scheduled to be completed before the 2021/22 Premier League season.
However, multiple factors pushed the project back – with May 2024 the date set in stone for the work to commence.
Amazingly, the current main stand will remain open during the entire process – with no loss in capacity taking place at Selhurst Park.
