Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
There has been some bad news for Michael Olise at Crystal Palace – although a positive update was also given on Matheus Franca.
It was Matt Woosnam of The Athletic who shared the news.
So, what is the latest on Michael Olise and Matheus Franca at Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, this is far from ideal.
The Athletic believe Olise has now suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring tear, which he initially sustained while playing for France at the Under-21 European Championship in June.
Crystal Palace’s No.7 is believed to have damaged the same hamstring, and we now await an updated timeframe from the Eagles on the 21-year-old’s return.
It is a bitter blow for Roy Hodgson, who was also without Marc Guehi and Jefferson Lerma in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Olise is now guaranteed to miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against Fulham, as well as the visit of Nottingham Forest and both meetings with Manchester United – one in the Carabao Cup – before October’s international break.
Hopefully, the £8m man will be ready to return when Crystal Palace are back in action after that international break on Saturday 21st October, where a trip to Newcastle awaits.
Michael Olise update is hugely disappointing, but Matheus Franca on course for Crystal Palace debut
The news about Olise is a real blow.
However, it is somewhat balanced out by the news that Franca – our £26m signing from Flamengo – is closing in on a return to full fitness, after missing the start of the 2023/24 campaign with an injury of his own.
There is huge excitement surrounding the Brazilian wonderkid after we beat Chelsea to his signature back in August, and his return to fitness has been highly anticipated, even more so after the departure of Wilfried Zaha.
Hopefully, Franca does not feel too much pressure on his shoulders, and he can make an instant impact in red and blue.
