Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Michael Olise signed a new contract at Crystal Palace but apparently there is a new clause in the contract which could be activated by another club.
That’s according to The Evening Standard.
So, what’s the latest on a clause in Olise’s new contract? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
According to The Evening Standard, Michael Olise’s new contract has a new release clause which will allow him to leave if another club triggers the price of the clause.
The report goes on to say that the ‘terrific‘ winger snubbed interest from Chelsea this summer and signed a new contract with Palace.
Chelsea at the time believed they had triggered a reported £35million release clause in his old contract at the time.
His new release clause is significantly higher, but for now, the price of this new release clause is not currently known. It is active from next summer.
Michael Olise is a top talent
It was a huge coup to keep Olise at the club and tie him down to a new contract. The winger picked up 11 assists in the Premier League last season. This was the fourth most in the division and emphasises how good the 21 year old is.
More so, his former release clause was a reported £35m. This would have been a steal for any club who bought him.
Now, it looks like there could be another release clause, but no doubt Palace would have covered themselves with a much bigger fee.
The fact that the report doesn’t suggest a price for the release clause probably shows that the release clause is again a tricky one to trigger. Typically, we see these reports share the price of the release clause as well when news of them are reported.
Palace have a top star on their hands and they would have no doubt made sure they will make a hefty profit if the Frenchman wanted to put a release clause in his new contract.
The Eagles have had a great start to the season and Olise has not been involved at all currently due to his injury. It will be a massive boost to see him return.
