Oliver Glasner seems keen to utilise the youth at his disposal at Crystal Palace and now he’s sent them a message.
Despite only arriving at the club over the last month, Oliver Glasner has already had a huge impact at Selhurst Park.
More than anything else the atmosphere has improved around the club and there seems to be a real positive atmosphere now around Crystal Palace.
This can be seen as he’s begun introducing youngsters from the academy which clubs tend to only do when things are positive.
This week has seen the club head on a warm weather training camp in Marbella on which Glasner brought four fairly unseen prospects; Kaden Rodney, Danny Imray, Franco Umeh and Justin Devenny.
Now he’s sent them a message…
Oliver Glasner sends message to Crystal Palace youngsters
Speaking with club media while in Marbella, Glasner has spoken about the talented youngsters currently in his squad and sent them a message.
“They can show their talent, they can show their quality. They can show their strengths and this is what I want to see. I don’t care about mistakes.
“Show your abilities, because this is why they’re in our academy. They have an opportunity to become part of the first team.
“They do really well in the training sessions and we support them like we support every player.”
Glasner will use the youth, but Palace must improve the academy
Taking youngsters on the trip to Marbella does signify that he’s keen on taking a look at the Palace youngsters with a view to using them.
This willingness to trust youth – assuming he follows through – should provide the club with the impetus to poach talented youngsters from across the world to put into the academy as long-term the benefits will be tremendous.
We’ve seen this with Brighton who expertly recruited teenagers into their youth system and have been reaping the rewards ever since.
Under Roy Hodgson, chances of the youth being used weren’t high which made heavy investment pointless, but now under Glasner, it could be an excellent strategy.
