Mofe Jemide has now been named as the best talent at Crystal Palace after a string of superb performances in south London.

It was Ed Aarons of the Guardian who made the claim.

So, what was written about Mofe Jemide at Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, there are a number of promising talents at Selhurst Park right now, such as David Ozoh, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Ademola Ola-Adebomi and Jadan Raymond.

However, Jemide has now been described as the single best prospect at Crystal Palace.

Aarons included the 16-year-old as Crystal Palace’s entry in the Guardian’s coveted Next Generation list, which focuses on the most precocious individual at each Premier League club.

Jemide is described as an “imposing” figure within the piece, who has adapted tremendously to being moved into central defence having previously played in midfield.

Aarons added on Twitter that the teenager is “tipped for the top by coaches at Crystal Palace’s academy” – that in itself should excite the Selhurst Park faithful hugely.

Jemide has made three appearances in the Under-18 Premier League so far this season, which speaks volumes as he is trusted to perform above his age group.

The Guardian add that the England Under-17 international also played for the Under-21 side in pre-season over the summer, so those at Crystal Palace are clearly keen to test the defender well above his actual age group.

Mofe Jemide could save Crystal Palace millions

Crystal Palace fans cannot expect to keep Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen together for many more years as the football world starts to sit up and take notice of the duo.

If one of them were to depart in 2024 or beyond, we would like to see Jemide handed an opportunity to step into their shoes, rather than spend millions on a replacement.

Of course, that would be a huge ask for the 16-year-old.

However, if Jemide is as talented as coaches believe he is, then he may genuinely be ready for Premier League football by the age of 18 – hopefully, he fulfils his vast potential in SE25.
