Uche posts upsetting message as Director confirms Crystal Palace exit

Constant snubs at Crystal Palace appear to be getting to Christantus Uche.

Despite impressing in the first half of the season, the Nigeria international has largely been exiled by Oliver Glasner since 2026 began.

Uche was left out of the squad for the knockout stage of the UEFA Conference League to make room for Jorgen Strand Larsen, Brennan Johnson and Evann Guessand, and has not even featured in the Premier League since playing nine minutes of the 3-1 win at Tottenham in March.

The Crystal Palace No.12 has now appeared to let his frustration out on Instagram, and in the meantime, Toni Munoz – Sporting Director at Getafe – has provided an update on the Nigerian’s future.

Christantus Uche growing increasingly frustrated as Getafe confirm return

The 22-year-old is currently on loan from Getafe, but Crystal Palace would have been obligated to make the deal permanent for a sum of £17m had he made ten starts.

Having only made three starts across all competitions, it is now impossible for Uche to trigger that clause, and Munoz expects the man born in Owerri to return to Spain shortly.

The Spaniard told DAZN (via Marca): “It’s taken for granted because the player hasn’t met the target (for appearances) and it’s clear he’s coming back.”

Those comments still leave the door open for Crystal Palace to renegotiate the deal and potentially sign Uche – who even dropped into the U21 side at one stage – under another manager, but that all depends on what Glasner’s replacement wants.

Getafe are in need of cash and had accounted for that £17m clause to be triggered in their budget, so they could still be open to doing business for a lower fee.

Having said that, the Eagles may have burned their bridges with Uche anyway.

As aforesaid, the Nigerian has been quite vocal about his emotions on Instagram, reposting a video of someone crying and admitting they are “tired” – while adding his own words to say “life has been so unfair lately” amid his lack of playing time.

It is sad to see, without a doubt.

Uche – who was again vocal on Instagram after the recent draw against West Ham – was one of our more exciting players at the start of the season, performing with plenty of passion and engaging with supporters.

Hopefully, if we win the UEFA Conference League, he can at least receive a medal to acknowledge his two goals in the league phase.
