Crystal Palace could contemplate a managerial change, with Steve Parish claimed to be strongly considering the future of the position at the club.

In the wake of Crystal Palace’s damning 4-1 defeat to rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, Roy Hodgson’s stance at Selhurst Park has once again come under scrutiny.

The 76-year-old, who is undertaking his second stint at Palace, is said to have his status as manager strongly contemplated, according to The Guardian.

Not only was the result against the Seagulls demoralising, the Englishman was fiercely criticised for his decision to throw Michael Olise into the fold at half-time, despite the 22-year-old not deemed to be fit enough to start.

As it is now known, the Frenchman lasted 11 minutes on the pitch before hobbling off due to a suspected recurrence of the hamstring injury that left him as a doubt.

Steve Parish has a decision to make with Roy Hodgson

As per The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, it’s believed that Steve Parish is weighing up his options with regard to Hodgson’s position, as Palace sit 14th in the table and just five points from the drop zone.

Having registered only four wins in the past 17 Premier League fixtures, it’s anticipated that the end of Hodgson’s second tenure with the Eagles is in sight.

Things are never simple in football, with plenty of factors there to consider when deliberating the suitability of a new manager at this point in the season.

Parish unsure of the next Palace manager at this moment

As well as communicating the owner’s doubts about keeping Hodgson in the fold, Aarons explained that potential replacements could be reluctant to take the reins at this moment.

There is understandably a grey cloud over Palace at present, with the next manager set to be handed a tremendous task with little time to prepare.

Names such as Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui have been uttered, yet the obstacle remains of which candidate would willingly accept a job of such magnitude.

Both Cooper and Lopetegui have experience in the Premier League, with the Welshman’s time at Nottingham Forest ending in December, while the Spaniard’s journey with Wolves came to a close just prior to this season.

It’s suspected that Hodgson’s future was under peak threat after the hostilities towards the club from the away end during Palace’s 5-0 defeat to Arsenal last month, a decision seen as a missed opportunity to dismiss the veteran.

Only time will reveal the fate of Parish’s decision over the managerial position at Palace, as Hodgson’s days look numbered in South London.
