Ismaila Sarr is Crystal Palace’s third arrival of the summer, and now he’s been discussing the move while name-dropping a former Eagles player.
Finally, a month after the sale of Michael Olise, he has been replaced as Crystal Palace announced the arrival of Ismaila Sarr.
Sarr joins from Marseille for a fee of just £12.6m, a bargain no matter which way it’s looked at.

Following the deal being announced, both Oliver Glasner and Steve Parish shared their thoughts on Sarr’s arrival at Selhurst Park.
The player also discussed the move, explaining that it was the Dougie Freedman impact – and also Glasner – which really sold him on the project.

Ismaila Sarr shares what Cheikhou Kouyate told him about Crystal Palace
Now Sarr has officially arrived as Palace’s third signing of the summer – following Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada.
The Senegal winger has been discussing the move with club media, and in doing so he name-dropped one former Eagles player – and explained that he’d spoken with him before joining Palace.
This was Cheikhou Kouyate who is also from Senegal and explains why he’d be talking with Sarr. Here’s what he told him.
“Now I’m here, and I’m going to work hard for this family.
“I’ve seen that Palace is a family. Cheikhou Kouyaté used to tell me often about Palace: ‘It’s a family, it’s a family’ – and now I’m part of that.”
Sarr is very much now part of the Palace family and we anticipate his debut – he seems absolutely thrilled to have joined the club.
When will Sarr make his Palace debut?
Sarr has already been videoed training at Copers Cope all on his own, but when will he first be seen playing a game in Palace colours?
Sarr won’t be involved in Sunday morning’s outing in the United States against West Ham, as he remains in South London.
Therefore, it seems logical that he will be first making an appearance a week on Sunday against Nantes at Selhurst Park in the final friendly prior to the Premier League starting.
It will be interesting to see how he fits in, with such drastically different qualities to Olise and the style of winger Glasner has used thus far.
