Daichi Kamada has just become the second signing of Oliver Glasner’s reign at Crystal Palace.

The Japan international reunites with the Austrian after spending two seasons under his guidance at Eintracht Frankfurt – winning the UEFA Europa League together in 2022 – and becomes the second summer arrival after Chadi Riad also signed from Real Betis.

Now, it has been revealed what exactly Oliver Glasner likes about Daichi Kamada – and where the man from Iyo is likely to play at Crystal Palace

Why Oliver Glasner signed Daichi Kamada

A story from The Athletic now states that Glasner specifically likes the fact that Kamada is never overly critical of himself, and instead leads by example – both in training and in matches.

Furthermore, it is said that the 49-year-old likes the 27-year-old’s sense of humour and humble nature, which enables him to create a positive atmosphere behind the scenes.

As much as footballing ability is obviously important when it comes to recruitment, it is arguably more important to sign the right characters who arrive with good attitudes.

Fortunately, Kamada would appear to tick every box – and arrives with the bonus of already playing under Glasner, while thriving.

The Japanese maestro impressively scored 25 goals and assisted another 12 in just 93 appearances working with the Crystal Palace boss in Germany, averaging a goal involvement every 2.5 games under the man from Salzburg.

What position Crystal Palace are likely to use the 27-year-old in

The Athletic also share what position Glasner is likely to field Kamada in.

While the Crystal Palace new boy has played in several different positions throughout his career so far, including the left and right of attack, defensive midfield and even as a striker – as shown on Transfermarkt – his natural position is in attacking midfield.

The Athletic believe that is where Glasner is likely to use Kamada, fielding the 27-year-old as one of the two attacking No.10s, presumably alongside Ebere Eze, with both playing off Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Kamada is right footed, however, so anybody expecting him to be stylistically similar to Michael Olise in that position should think again.

Nevertheless, the Glasner favourite is a highly intelligent player in his own right, and we believe he is more than capable of being a huge hit in the Premier League.
