Oliver Glasner put Rob Holding in the headlines at Crystal Palace with his recent comments.
In case you missed it, Glasner revealed that Holding is training alone and “knows the reason” after the 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, suggesting there might have been a disciplinary issue.
The Austrian said: “Rob is training individually at the moment. We will talk together. He knows the reason, but it is something that stays between Rob and me. Nothing public.”
Now, Rob Holding has done something interesting to add fuel to the fire at Crystal Palace…
What Rob Holding has done after Oliver Glasner comments
The Crystal Palace No.4 has now deleted all mention and imagery of Crystal Palace from his Instagram account – while also unfollowing the Eagles on the social media platform.
That might not mean so much to the older Crystal Palace supporter, but the younger generation will know that footballers in the modern era regularly speak their mind through social media activity – often cryptically – so Holding’s actions are quite intriguing.
In our view, the 28-year-old is probably just a bit fed up.
Holding left Arsenal for Selhurst Park in a £4m move back in September 2023 after a tough time at Arsenal, where he made just six Premier League starts in the 2022/23 campaign.
The man from Tameside perhaps then expected to receive more minutes at Crystal Palace, but after making zero Premier League starts last season, he now seems to have lost his temper somewhat.
Not sure what the Crystal Palace No.4 expected
If Holding’s decision to delete all mention of Crystal Palace from his Instagram is solely down to a lack of playing time, then we aren’t quite sure what he expected to happen in SE25.
The central defender found himself behind two excellent players in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes at Arsenal, but still signed himself up for Crystal Palace, where there was a similar situation with Marc Guehi, Chris Richards and Joachim Andersen at the back.
Therefore, Holding cannot have just expected to walk straight into the starting XI.

Glasner has since added further quality to that area in the form of Maxence Lacroix, Chadi Riad and Trevoh Chalobah, so Holding clearly hasn’t stood out in training during the 50-year-old’s time in charge of Crystal Palace.
Now, given his social media antics and the wealth of options in that area, we would not be surprised if the £4m man departs Selhurst Park in January.
