Crystal Palace fans all over the planet are wondering what Steve Parish will do when Roy Hodgson departs for a second time.
The Selhurst Park faithful thought the 76-year-old’s time in SE25 was over when Patrick Vieira arrived.
However, the Croydon-born tactician returned in March to ease relegation fears, earning himself a 12-month contract extension in the process.
Now – however – it has been revealed what Crystal Palace are “likely” to do when Roy Hodgson leaves…
What’s the story?
Well, it was Matt Woosnam of The Athletic who provided an update on the managerial situation.
The Crystal Palace correspondent wrote: “Although there has been a tendency to opt for a cautious approach with primarily domestic-based managers who have Premier League experience, that is not necessarily the starting point for the next appointment.
“It is also likely that Palace will turn to a manager with a more progressive style of play seeking to make the most of Olise, Eze and others. There is always risk in any appointment, and Palace’s appetite for risk has varied over time. The primary objective will be to remain in the Premier League, and although long-term appointments are never truly realistic anymore, that will be what the club have in mind.”
So, it seems as if Parish will be looking for an attack-minded coach to take over from Hodgson on a long-term basis, which will surely please the majority of Crystal Palace fans.
Who Crystal Palace could hire to replace Roy Hodgson
There have already been a few links to managers who fit the style Woosnam refers to.
According to The Sun, Lille boss Paulo Fonseca is on Parish’s radar as the 58-year-old prepares for life after Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
That same article states that Kieran McKenna is also among the options after his stunning work at Ipswich Town.
Both of these managers adopt exciting styles of football which should suit Eze and Olise, so at this stage of the process, these are certainly encouraging rumours.
