Meet Michael Olise, the former Crystal Palace winger that is attracting plenty of attention from the top Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace have gained a reputation for picking up the brightest young talents in lower tiers and developing them into stars. Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze are two examples of this, with the third being Michael Olise.

The winger joined Palace in the summer of 2021 from Championship side Reading, for a fee worth just £8million. Since then, Olise has continued to light up the Premier League, wreaking havoc to defences up and down the division.

It’s any wonder that Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all missed out on keeping the French youth international in their ranks. With his impressive displays since, it’s also no surprise that teams are sitting up and taking notice.

Michael Olise is 22-years-old. The youngster was born on 12 December, 2001 in London, England. W

hile the winger could be eligible to play for England, his youth international career has been with France.

Olise is eligible for four national teams through his parents, which includes England, France, Algeria or Nigeria.

Michael Olise is a left-footed right-winger, who is also capable of playing as an attacking midfielder. The 22-year-old is a creative spark in the team, often causing problems for the opposition with his ball-carrying ability.

Olise’s excellent dribbling skill makes him hard to knock off the ball, while his end product is often just as good. Delicate deliveries and well-placed shots personify the confidence of the forward, who can also take stunning set-pieces.

Michael Olise transfer

With an impressive career in the Premier League so far, Michael Olise continues to attract attention from the biggest teams. Reports claimed that both Manchester City and Chelsea made an effort to land the winger in summer 2023.

However, in August 2023, Olise signed a new contract with Crystal Palace, which will last until 2027. Ahead of the summer 2024 summer window, the likes of Manchester United have continued to be rumoured with a switch.

Michael Olise release clause

Previous attempts from Manchester City and Chelsea in landing Michael Olise saw plenty of talks surrounding a release clause. Sky Sports claimed that a release clause existed in the winger’s previous deal worth just £35million.

The new deal has increased that release clause, with the Mirror claiming that the new value is set at roughly £60million.

Michael Olise injury record

Recent injuries have left question marks over the record for Michael Olise and how it may impact his career going forward. A hamstring injury in 2022/23 kept him out of action for 13 games of the season, just over 100 days.

The current injury troubles are also on the hamstring front, with a rushed return from a slight issue leaving him out of action for a few months. Olise is expected to feature again before the end of the 2023/24 season.

In the summer of 2024, Michael Olise confirmed an exit from Crystal Palace, joining Bayern Munich as his new club.
