Jean-Philippe Mateta is currently unhappy with Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace.

The £9m man put his name up in lights at the end of last season thanks to a stunning run of form, which saw him score 13 goals in 13 appearances under the Austrian.

History was also witnessed at Selhurst Park, as Mateta became the first player to score in six consecutive home games for Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

However, the Frenchman is struggling to hit those heights so far this season, failing to score in five out of six Premier League outings as Crystal Palace sit 18th.

Now, Jean-Philippe Mateta is said to be furious with Oliver Glasner, the man who helped properly launch his Crystal Palace career.

Jean-Philippe Mateta upset with Oliver Glasner for taking him off

A story from the Daily Mail now states that the man from Sevran is angry with the 50-year-old for substituting him at half-time in the recent 0-0 draw against Manchester United.

Mateta was withdrawn in place of Ismaila Sarr at the interval after a woeful opening 45 minutes from Crystal Palace, in which the lack of attacking football resembled a display more akin to something Roy Hodgson would have cooked up.

Dean Henderson could be seen angrily shouting “play forward” to his teammates, which sums it up.

Sources close to Crystal Palace have informed the Daily Mail that the 27-year-old was livid with Glasner, who then proceeded to hand the striker 90 minutes in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Everton.

Mateta could leave Crystal Palace

The Daily Mail also provide an update on the Olympic silver medalist’s contract situation in SE25.

Mateta suggested he was upset not to leave Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window amid a contract dispute.

The Daily Mail believe the Crystal Palace No.14 wants to see his £50,000-a-week wages doubled before he commits himself at Selhurst Park, with talks described as “open and ongoing” by sources.

Mateta will only have 18 months remaining on his current terms when January comes around, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see Steve Parish cash in if the situation does not change.
