SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
When you’re a supporter of Crystal Palace, it’s probably best to prepare yourself for bad things to happen and not get too carried away.
For example, just days after Roy Hodgson’s exit was announced – something most fans wanted – Eberechi Eze ruptured his Achilles.
Now, amidst the wave of positivity caused by Patrick Vieira and the new signings, there’s one thing we must all be wary of.
Could Patrick Vieira do a Frank Lampard?
After one impressive season managing Derby, Frank Lampard’s beloved Chelsea came calling, and he was gone.
After 648 appearances for the Blues, you couldn’t blame him for wanting to return to where he made his name.
Now, the danger is that Vieira – who made 396 appearances for Arsenal – does exactly that to us.
In our view, it’s possible that the Frenchman has a fine season at Selhurst Park, in which he receives rave reviews from the media.
Following their awful season under Mikel Arteta last term, it’s also possible that Arsenal sack the Spaniard.
Of course, this is all hypothetical, but if the Gunners then contact Vieira about taking the job, we could see a repeat of the Lampard situation.
What can Crystal Palace do?
In truth, there’s not much we could do to prevent Vieira joining Arsenal if that’s what his heart desired.
All we can do is hope that Steve Parish, Josh Harris, David Blitzer and John Textor have also thought about this, and have a replacement in mind.
Who knows, maybe it would be Lucien Favre.
After all, the Swiss coach had agreed to join before deciding he needed a longer break, so there must’ve been something about us that was attractive to him.
Hopefully, this nightmare scenario doesn’t happen.
However, as a Crystal Palace fan, it’s always a rollercoaster of emotions – strap in and prepare for the worst, and it makes the good times feel so much better.
