SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
According to London News Online, Crystal Palace are keen to sign John Lundstram this summer when his contract with Sheffield United expires.
The 27-year-old was up for sale in January as the Blades looked to recoup some money for him, but no exit from Bramall Lane materialised.
Now, with the Liverpool-born midfield maestro set to become a free agent, the Eagles are circling.
Now, in our view, this would be an ideal way to kick off our summer rebuild.
You might feel slightly uninspired by that statement, seeing as, ultimately, we’re talking about signing a free agent from a side set to finish bottom of the Premier League.
However, there are plenty of positives.
For one, his age represents good value for us. At 27, he should be in his prime years, and could potentially be a replacement for James McArthur, who is now 33.
The pair are both tireless workers, who can also pitch in with goals.
Lundstram netted five in the Premier League last season, including one against us, and became somewhat of a Fantasy Football icon.
Furthermore, in a market hit by the pandemic, we can’t imagine there’ll be an endless amount of money, so Dougie Freedman will have to be shrewd where possible.
This is a perfect example of where the Scot can be savvy in the market.
Lundstram also possesses Premier League experience. As far as free transfers go, this would be an excellent one to make.
