SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
The one question on every Crystal Palace fan’s lips right now is this – when will Ebere Eze make his return?
The £19.5m man sent joy straight into the homes of the Eagles supporters, as they were forced to watch his debut campaign in SE25 from their sofas.
Sadly, Eze is yet to play in front of a packed Selhurst Park, although Patrick Vieira has shared some positive news regarding the 23-year-old’s Achilles problem.
In his pre-match press conference, the Frenchman said: “Eze is getting better. He has started taking some part in collective training, but again we don’t want to put any kind of pressure on him or any kind of date on when he will be ready.
“He is doing well, and we just have to evaluate how he is feeling week after week. We won’t set any kind of date on his return.”
Now, some fans may have been keen for Vieira to give them a specific date to put in their diaries, but he is spot on to refrain from doing so.
Putting a timeframe on the situation will only heap pressure onto Eze’s shoulders, which could result in him suffering a setback as he pushes to make it in time.
Allowing him to recover at his own pace is definitely the right call.
If this had happened last season, there would be much more pressure on Eze to return, but our new signings have actually aided his rehabilitation.
The likes of Conor Gallagher and Michael Olise have provided the creative spark in Eze’s absence, putting less stress on our No.10 to return and do that job himself.
There is absolutely no rush to have Eze back. We’d much rather give him two or three weeks more than he needs, just to make sure he doesn’t suffer a heartbreaking setback.
Vieira and the medical team have got it spot on.
