Why it's time for Crystal Palace and £50,000-a-week man to part ways - Our View

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

There is a lot of uncertainty around the future of Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and we believe its time for the club to part ways with the player.

The season is now over and Mateta has been linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Everton. The same report suggests Crystal Palace would allow the Frenchman to leave for a price of £10million.

Apparently, Mateta has grown frustrated by his game time, and this was further backed-up by the forward’s Instagram post which he posted at the end of the season.

He posted a cryptic update on his future. He said: “I worked very hard every day for this team. Now let’s see what the future holds. Thanks to my team-mates and to all the fans, who are definitely wonderful.”

Crystal Palace should sell Jean Philippe Mateta

The Eagles signed Mateta for a reported £9million so it makes sense that the club want around £10million for the forward.

Since he has joined the club, he has had some fantastic moments. We all loved his goal at the Amex against Brighton. Meanwhile, his last-minute winner against Leicester this season sent Selhurst Park wild. The only issue is the fact that these moments have been few and far between.

The 25 year-old has played 67 times for Crystal Palace but only scored 10 times. This season, Mateta has only scored two goals in the Premier League in 29 appearances. A lot of these matches have been from the bench but he has failed to make much impact.

A clinical finisher is what we are missing at the club. With this in mind, it would be best to sell the £50,000-a-week star, recoup some of the money and then buy another forward. Mateta has definitely been a player we have enjoyed at the club, but sadly, it seems like the best option is for him to depart.
