Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Atlético Madrid have now asked about signing Wilfried Zaha as Crystal Palace fight to keep the Ivory Coast international.
That is according to the Daily Mail.
It represents a very exciting move for Wilfried Zaha – as the Spanish giants will play in the Champions League next season – although Crystal Palace are still hoping to keep the 30-year-old.
What’s the story?
Well, the Daily Mail believe our £200,000-a-week offer is still on the table, which Zaha is giving serious consideration to.
However, Atlético Madrid represent a fresh name in the battle to sign our No.11 on a free transfer this summer.
The Daily Mail state that Diego Simeone is a long-term admirer of Zaha and tried to sign him in 2020.
It is also said that our offer to the Ivorian expires at the end of June, meaning the Abidjan-born forward only has a matter of weeks to make up his mind.
Al-Ittihad are believed to have made Zaha a £9m-a-year offer after winning Saudi Arabia’s top-flight, although the aforementioned story states that he would like to continue playing at the highest level.
Atlético Madrid would be a good fit for Zaha
In our view, the Wanda Metropolitano represents an interesting destination for Zaha – we believe he would be a success under Simeone.
The Argentine adopts a defensive style of play in which every player knows their job and makes up what is a very well-drilled side.
Not every attacker has been able to adjust, with stars such as Joao Felix and Thomas Lemar failing to shine under the South American tactician.
However, Zaha – after years of playing in rigid systems under the likes of Sam Allardyce and Roy Hodgson – should be able to carry out Simeone’s defensive requests, while also providing the spark in attack.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Zaha doesn’t have long to make up his mind.
