Crystal Palace already seem to be making some progress over one summer transfer target.
As you will know, recruitment plans do not simply begin when the transfer window opens, and Dougie Freedman is currently hard at work trying to find some top talent for Oliver Glasner.
The Austrian has actually already made a request to the Glaswegian – and there has now been an update on that particular player as his price tag emerges.
So, which Glasner target are Crystal Palace seemingly making progress on? Let’s take a look…

Well, Freedman rarely dips into the Portuguese market, with Crystal Palace tending to buy from the Championship most frequently.
However – according to a story from A Bola in Portugal last week – Glasner has asked Crystal Palace to sign Marcus Edwards from Portuguese giants Sporting CP.
Now, the same news outlet have provided an update.
The fresh story from A Bola states that Crystal Palace have been in touch with an official enquiry for Edwards – who has been compared to Diego Maradona – with Sporting CP responding by saying they will accept no less than €20m (£17m) for the Londoner.
That might seem like a relatively large fee, although it is quite small when you consider the 25-year-old’s €60m (£51m) release clause.
Problem in Marcus Edwards pursuit
Sadly, Crystal Palace do not have a free run at Edwards.
A Bola add that Tottenham have also asked about the winger.
Interestingly, Spurs used to own Edwards. The Enfield-born attacker joined the north Londoners in 2006 at the age of eight, before eventually departing for Portuguese outfit Vitória de Guimarães in 2019.
A Bola did not mention which club is leading the race, although we are certainly wary of Tottenham’s connection to the Sporting CP No.10 – he may fancy a return to familiar surroundings.
Having said that, SE25 is not a million miles away from Enfield, so anything could happen this summer.
