Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Crystal Palace could now finally get their hands on Jack Clarke following a transfer pursuit that has been over four years in the making.
An update from reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Dougie Freedman has now made a bid to sign the 22-year-old after he enjoyed an excellent season with Sunderland.
Brentford and Burnley have also submitted offers for Clarke.
Crystal Palace have wanted Jack Clarke for years
Well, it will be tough for Crystal Palace to fend off two very talented coaches in Thomas Frank and Vincent Kompany as the Eagles aim to beat the pair to Clarke’s signature.
However, the 22-year-old himself could be tempted to move to Selhurst Park, purely out of feeling wanted given the long-standing interest in his talent.
The Yorkshire Evening Post revealed back in January 2019 that Crystal Palace approached Leeds over a deal for Clarke.
However, the Whites rejected all advances for the precocious winger, as they were sitting top of the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa and did not want to weaken their side.
Tottenham actually ended up managing to convince Leeds to sell Clarke that very same month for £11.5m – under the condition that he was loaned back to Elland Road.
However, Spurs handed the England Under-20 international just four appearances in total before loaning him to Stoke and then Sunderland, with the Black Cats eventually sealing a permanent deal back in July 2022.
Clarke has blossomed at the Stadium of Light, scoring 11 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions during the 2022/23 campaign to prompt Crystal Palace into making a bid.
In our view, the York-born winger would go from strength to strength playing alongside other talented forwards who also made their name in the Championship, such as Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise.
Romano did not state how much Crystal Palace have offered, so be sure to keep an eye on the situation to see if Parish and Freedman have their bid accepted.
