Crystal Palace could now sell David Ozoh to fund a bid for another player – amid interest from Luton Town.

The Hatters are considering a permanent move for the England U18 international after suffering relegation to the Championship.

It would be a surprise if David Ozoh was sold – given his impressive breakout campaign last season – although reports are now suggesting that Crystal Palace are considering a sale to raise funds for another deal…

Crystal Palace could sell David Ozoh to fund Jobe Bellingham move

A story in Sunday’s print version of The Sun (page 57, July 7th) claims that Crystal Palace could cash in on the 19-year-old to fund a move for Jobe Bellingham.

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Dougie Freedman is still pushing to sign the Sunderland No.7 for Oliver Glasner this summer, with Ed Aarons of the Guardian even claiming that Crystal Palace have already seen a bid rejected as the Black Cats demand at least £20m.

Having already spent £15m on Chadi Riad, and with talks ongoing over a £25m move for Club Brugge No.32 Antonio Nusa, the budget can only stretch so far amid the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), so Ozoh could now be sold to fund a swoop for Bellingham.

The brother of Jude Bellingham – who has been compared to Arsenal No.29 Kai Havertz – scored seven goals in 45 Championship appearances last season from a central attacking midfield role.

19-year-old cannot be sold

In our view, it would be incredibly risky to sell Ozoh.

The teenager, like Bellingham, is a seriously talented prospect, and with one impressive season in the Championship under his belt, he could even develop into a £20m talent himself.

Based on how Ozoh performed in the Premier League, including one particularly outstanding display away to Manchester City of all clubs in December’s 2-2 draw, it would not be a surprise whatsoever to see him rip up the Championship.

It would make far more sense to wait for a buyer to come forward for Odsonne Edouard – a player who has already been put up for sale – than to give up a brilliant prospect.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Luton Town continue to pursue Ozoh’s signature – as well as Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle…
