Crystal Palace now want to sign Jota on a free transfer amid serious doubts surrounding his future at Al Ittihad.
That is according to 90min.
So, what has been written about Crystal Palace and Jota? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, this is very interesting news – to say the least.
Jota made a £25m move to Al Ittihad from Celtic back in July after the Portuguese forward enjoyed a stunning 2022/23 campaign under Ange Postecoglou in Scotland.
The 24-year-old scored 15 goals and also provided 12 assists in 43 appearances as Celtic won the treble.
Now – however – Jota could actually be leaving Saudi Arabia on a free transfer.
Al Ittihad have strangely left the Lisbon-born attacker out of their Saudi Pro League squad, deciding not to register the £25m signing in a bizarre turn of events.
The reason for that decision has not yet been disclosed.
As a result, Jota would like to be released from his contract and make an immediate return to Europe, with Crystal Palace monitoring the situation closely.

Tottenham – now managed by the aforementioned Postecoglou – are also keen, along with West Ham, Brentford, Everton and Fulham.
In our view, it will be tough to beat Spurs to Jota’s signature, given his relationship with the 58-year-old Tottenham boss.
West Ham also represent fierce competition, as they can offer Jota UEFA Europa League football.
Jota would be an incredible signing for Crystal Palace
If Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman somehow find a way to sign a £25m forward for free over the coming weeks, it would be an incredible development.
It would not just be a signing for the sake of it either.

Roy Hodgson’s squad is desperately short on forwards right now after injuries to Michael Olise, Matheus Franca, Ebere Eze and Odsonne Edouard, so Jota’s arrival would be a welcome boost.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen.
