Crystal Palace have finally made a singing at right back, something which fans have been desperate to see for years.
Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Colombian right-back Daniel Munoz from Genk for a fee of £8.5m. This is a huge acquisition for the Eagles given how severely lacking they’ve been at right back this season.
A lack of investment in the position meant options have been limited to Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Ward – both of whom aren’t the players Palace fans want to see. Now 27-year-old Munoz has arrived and with him, fans have become excited at what the new Palace right side could look like.
Munoz represents a massive shift from the current players at Roy Hodgson’s disposal and with such a buoyant footballer who is primarily an attacking full-back, we could see some excellent football down that side for Palace. Munoz will pair wonderfully with Michael Olise and we are excited to witness the potential link-up play these two could partake in.
But it’s a move which is long overdue and with Munoz’s arrival, Palace have now done something they haven’t done in over 10 years.

It’s been over 10 years since Palace last invested in a right-back, to be precise it has been 10 years, four months and 25 days.
That equals a whopping 3802 days, since September 2013 when Jack Hunt was signed by Palace from Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee.
That is an incredibly long time which just goes to show how long overdue this deal was for the club. It’s been so long since then that the world has gone through so many changes here are some shocking things which have happened since Palace last spent a fee on a right back.

10 years is a long time in football but looking back to the last time Palace signed a right-back, it feels even longer ago.
In September 2013, ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry was top of the charts in the UK, a song which for many will feel like a lifetime ago.
Above this, Grant Theft Auto V was still two weeks from release, a game which many are now eagerly anticipating the next edition of.
David Cameron was the UK Prime Minister and would be for a few years yet. While One Direction’s movie ‘This Is Us’ was in the cinemas worldwide.
Lastly in footballing terms, Neymar was still yet to make his Champions League debut – he has since made 81 while scoring 43 goals.
