Crystal Palace now have an interest in Leicester City gem Kasey McAteer but they face competition for the exciting attacker.

That is according to Football Transfers.

So, what’s the latest on Crystal Palace and their interest in Kasey McAteer? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

The January transfer window is rapidly approaching and the start of the season has taught Crystal Palace that they need more depth.

There have been many injuries that the Eagles have had to deal with and Roy Hodgson has barely been able to use his strongest team. Eberechi Eze is the latest star injured.

Now, Football Transfers are reporting that Palace want to sign McAteer. The Eagles, as well as Premier League rivals Everton, are now monitoring the right-winger.

His current club Leicester City are trying to get the player to sign a new contract to ward off interested clubs. Palace are looking for a versatile winger and believe McAteer could be the answer. Everton and Palace could make a move in January.

Crystal Palace want Kasey McAteer

After a couple of loan spells over recent years in the English Football Leagues, McAteer is now showing his top potential at the club he has been at since he was in the academy in Leicester City.

In 11 Championship appearances, the winger has four goals and this is a very good return for the 22-year-old.

What’s even more impressive is the fact that the winger has only started seven of these games. McAteer is highly-rated, with his former teammate Alex Pearce calling him “technically gifted“.

Palace have signed a lot of good talent from the Championship, with Eze and Michael Olise being top stars for the South London club now.

He fits the profile of the type of player they want to sign as he has the potential to grow and become a top star.

The Eagles will no doubt be losing some of their top stars in the near future so they need to be thinking long-term and find future replacements.
