Crystal Palace set to react after Eddie Nketiah sees Nottingham Forest move collapse
Alan Nixon has now claimed that Crystal Palace are on red alert after Arsenal No.14 Eddie Nketiah saw his move to Nottingham Forest break down.
The respected journalist states that Dougie Freedman is ready to swoop in and offer £25m to sign the England international, with those at Selhurst Park admiring the striker “for years” – according to Nixon.
He adds that Nketiah himself may be open to the move, as it means he can remain living in London.
Nottingham Forest have definitely moved on from the 25-year-old, with the Reds now making a new €33m (£28m) bid for Feyenoord No.29 Santiago Gimenez.
David Ornstein of The Athletic – arguably the best journalist around – has also shared details about Nketiah, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
He states that those at the City Ground could not agree personal terms with the man from Lewisham, despite agreeing a £30m fee with Arsenal for the Londoner.
Ornstein adds that Crystal Palace held talks with Arsenal about Nketiah earlier this summer, with those discussions now set to be resurrected.
Oliver Glasner would still lack balance in his attack
While we are fans of Nketiah, and believe he would be a success at Selhurst Park, Glasner still desperately needs a left footed player in his attack.
In the opening two Premier League games, Crystal Palace’s frontline has not flowed as well as last season. Of course, that will happen when a player as talented as Michael Olise leaves, but we believe it is more to do with the lack of a left-footer cutting inside, to compliment Eberechi Eze doing likewise from the other flank.
Someone like Lyon No.18 Rayan Cherki – who is a target for Crystal Palace – would make more sense than Nketiah, while also being a cheaper option given his £17m price tag.
Nevertheless, be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Crystal Palace are focused on bringing Nketiah to SE25 after years of pursuing the Arsenal academy graduate.
