Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Crystal Palace now want to sign Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle as Roy Hodgson aims to strengthen his attacking department.
That is according to 90min.
So, what is the situation involving Allan Saint-Maximin and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it is said that Newcastle are keeping an eye on Financial Fair Play regulations after spending £65m on the signing of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.
Therefore, Saint-Maximin could be sold, with the Frenchman considering his options after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign where he fell out of favour under Eddie Howe.
The 26-year-old made just 12 starts in the Premier League last season, and is attracting interest from Everton, Marseille, AC Milan as well as from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Newcastle’s No.10 – who cost the Magpies £16.5m in a deal from OGC Nice back in August 2019 – still has three years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park, but 90min believe he is unlikely to sign an extension.
As a result, Saint-Maximin could be on the move this summer, with SE25 a potential destination.
Allan Saint-Maximin would thrive at Crystal Palace
In our view, Saint-Maximin is a proper Crystal Palace player, and Selhurst Park represents an ideal environment for him to thrive – especially if Wilfried Zaha decides not to sign a contract extension, which leaves a space in the starting XI for him.
The skilful winger – who David Ginola once compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Sky Sports (03/04 at 4:16pm) – loves to take players on and get the crowd excited, something Crystal Palace fans are well accustomed to having watched the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Michael Olise and Zaha over the years.
In our view, he would become an immediate fan favourite down in SE25.
If Newcastle really are open to selling Saint-Maximin this summer, Dougie Freedman simply has to get in touch with the Magpies.
