Crystal Palace now want to sign 15-year-old George Feeney from Glentoran.

That is according to the BBC.

So, what is the situation involving Crystal Palace and George Feeney? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the teenager is making headlines at Glentoran – who are managed by his father, Warren Feeney.

Feeney made history in becoming the scorer of the fastest goal ever seen in the Milk Cup or the Super Cup Northern Ireland back in July 2022, netting against Ballymena United after just 15 seconds.

The Northern Ireland Under-17 international has continued to receive first-team opportunities at Glentoran, making four Sports Direct Premiership appearances so far this season.

As such, the BBC add that Tottenham, West Ham and Brighton are also keen to sign Feeney.

The BBC add that the Newport-born wonderkid is “poised” to complete a move to the Premier League, so it just remains to be seen which side he chooses to join.

Speaking about his son’s playing style, Warren Feeney told the Belfast Telegraph: “He has a bit of an edge to him, he’s quick.”

Crystal Palace would be a wise choice for George Feeney

Feeney may initially be tempted by interest from Tottenham, West Ham and Brighton – the Hammers and the Seagulls currently play in UEFA competitions, which surely intrigues the youngster.

However, Crystal Palace arguably represent the best place for him to fulfil his potential.

Steve Parish has just overseen the construction of a £20m academy, and has already stressed his desire to bring more talents through into the first-team after Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrick Mitchell emerged in recent years.

Therefore, Feeney would be wise to give genuine consideration to Crystal Palace, despite the fact Roy Hodgson’s side are not currently as attractive as Tottenham, West Ham or Brighton.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as it would be great to add the Irishman to our academy.
