Crystal Palace are said to be interested in Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Crystal Palace have undergone significant change over the past few weeks, with Oliver Glasner taking the reins from Roy Hodgson as manager.

The Austrian took charge of his first game on the touchline with the Eagles on Saturday which ended in a 3-0 win, a much-needed boost for the South Londoners.

While the tests will keep coming for the 49-year-old, the three points gained on matchday 26 relieved pressures regarding a potential relegation battle, as Palace moved eight points clear of the drop zone.

Despite only just taking charge, there has been speculation over who could be Glasner’s first signing in the summer, with one Championship starlet said to be wanted at Selhurst Park

What has been said about Jordan James to Crystal Palace

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Palace remain interested in Birmingham City midfielder, Jordan James.

The report claims that Palace tried to purchase the 19-year-old in the January window after signing Adam Wharton, although the offer was said to be too low.

Nixon added that the Eagles see both James and Wharton in their side in the near future due to anticipated exits in the future, with the South London club said to be keeping their interest to take into the summer.

Why Jordan James would be a good signing for Crystal Palace

Previously lauded as a “top talent” by pundit Clinton Morrison via Sky Sports, James has been highly influential for the Blues this season in the second tier.

Having scored eight goals in 17 starts in the Championship, the teenager has caught the eye of many due to his progression in Birmingham City’s midfield this term.

Fielded primarily on the left side of the Blues’ attacking midfield line, the Welshman has showcased just how good he is at senior level, having already secured 94 appearances for his club.

For Palace, introducing a player like James to the squad would only promote the depth available to Glasner, a necessary thing to strengthen given the injuries that the club have suffered this year.

Like Wharton, the teen can give the manager both a combative and creative edge to place in midfield, which has worked so far for the Eagles with reference to how well their January signing is fitting in.

Investing in a highly-rated talent like the Wales international could solidify the options that Glasner has available, in a player that is destined for the top with so much experience at such a young age.
