Crystal Palace are apparently one of seven clubs across England and Scotland who are interested in Columbian midfielder Jhon Arias.

That is according to TEAMtalk.

So, what’s the latest transfer update around Crystal Palace and Jhon Arias? Let’s take a look…

Crystal Palace monitoring Jhon Arias

The latest from TEAMtalk has suggested that fellow Premier League sides Wolves, Burnley and West Ham, as well as Leeds, Leicester City and Scottish Premiership side Rangers are all monitoring Arias.

It is the 2023 Copa Libertadores final this weekend, and Arias will be involved. This will see the clubs mentioned above, and Crystal Palace all scout the attack-minded player.

The seven clubs have already been scouting the player, both in his appearances for Columbia as well as his appearances for Fluminense.

Apparently, Arias ‘could be available for transfer in January’, and no doubt this will put all the interested clubs on high alert.

Steve Parish needs to strengthen the squad in January

The Eagles started the season well and were in the top half, however, recent results against Newcastle and Tottenham, in which Palace looked like they were never going to win, have stressed the need for reinforcements in the January Transfer window.

This season, despite the Eagles keeping four clean sheets, they have struggled in attack and only managed to score eight goals. This is the joint-second lowest in the division. The owners need to sign stronger players in attack. There have been links to striker Hugo Ekitike since the summer, but nothing concrete has happened.

Arias is a winger, who can play on both the right and the left. The 26 year-old has been impressing over the last year. In his last five games, the Columbian has three goals.

At Fluminense, Arias has managed 26 goals and 30 assists in 135 appearances, and this means he has one goal contribution just less than every three games.

Arias looks like a decent player and one who would definitely help boost the attack at Palace. There are some top players at the club and if we would build around them we could definitely finish in the top half.

Only time will tell as to whether the Eagles strengthen in January. With some big games coming up, the next couple of months will show us whether the club can battle top half or if it’s another season of staying mid table.
