Crystal Palace are set to sell Joachim Andersen and now a bid has been submitted for the replacement.

Oliver Glasner shared an update on the transfer ongoings at Crystal Palace the other day, after speaking to Dougie Freedman he said there was a lot going on.

Now as we reach the middle point of the week, that prophecy looks to be coming true with a bid now being made for a central defender.

This comes after Palace have agreed to sell Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £30m, which will come as a very welcome financial boost.

Now, the Eagles are already using some of that cash with a bid for one replacement option.

Crystal Palace submit a bid for Tomas Araujo

Palace are moving quickly to replace Andersen ahead of his impending move to Fulham, with his medical scheduled today ahead of a move to Craven Cottage.

This comes amid a report of interest from the Eagles in signing Benfica’s Tomas Araujo.

Now, not too long after this initial report, Palace have submitted a bid for the 22-year-old who boasts impressive stats which paint him as a potentially perfect central defender.

Fabrizio Romano reports this, stating that an official offer has been made – however, there is no agreement right now, but Palace have a genuine interest.

Romano adds that if Araujo is to be available, chances are Palace won’t be alone in interest with more clubs keen – so it could be in the interests of the Eagles to get this done quickly.

With a current wage of £10k-a-week, a move to Palace would result in a payrise.

Araujo is a solid signing

While few players the Eagles are looking at will be an upgrade on a defender with the class of Andersen, Araujo has the potential to surpass the Dane.

Palace is phenomenal at picking out young players who have everything needed to reach higher levels and with Araujo that is the kind of deal we are expecting him to be.

It would mean the Eagles have both Araujo and Chadi Riad as new arrivals and inexperienced defenders, but with Andersen’s sale, it could ensure Marc Guehi remains.

We will have to wait and see how the Portugal international performs, but on paper, this deal looks good – assuming the asking price is not too high.
