Crystal Palace sold a number of senior players during the summer transfer window – and it could be more of the same in 2025.
The likes of Michael Olise, Joachim Andersen, Jordan Ayew, James Tomkins and Jairo Riedewald all left Selhurst Park during the summer – with Odsonne Edouard also departing to join Leicester City on loan.
Fortunately, Crystal Palace were able to keep Marc Guehi – amid strong interest from Newcastle – while Adam Wharton also remained in SE25 with Eberechi Eze.
However, one key man is already being looked at by an English giant ahead of next summer…
Manchester United want Eberechi Eze
A story from the Manchester Evening News now states that Manchester United are interested in signing Eberechi Eze in the summer of 2025.
The Red Devils are already drawing up recruitment plans after a fairly underwhelming summer of transfer activity this year, in which some strong defensive additions were made in the form of Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui, but little in the way of attacking reinforcements, aside from Joshua Zirkzee.
It is said that Eze has a £68m release clause in his contract – which reactivates next summer after recently expiring – and INEOS are keen to bolster the central attacking areas with Christian Eriksen set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Could be the England international’s last season at Crystal Palace
A recent story from the Daily Mail suggested that Crystal Palace would be open to selling Eze in 2025 – so this could be the England international’s final campaign at Selhurst Park.
That article from Sami Mokbel even stated that Crystal Palace may be willing to negotiate a fee lower than the 26-year-old’s £68m release clause, to help facilitate his dreams of playing European football.
By all accounts, it sounds like Steve Parish would be keen to cash in on Eze should a fee in the region of £65m be offered by Manchester United.
Interestingly, Dougie Freedman already has PSV Eindhoven No.11 Johan Bakayoko lined up as a replacement for Eze, which adds to the theory that Crystal Palace are prepared to sell the man from Greenwich.
Hopefully, that does not turn out to be the case, as the £17m signing from QPR has been a joy to watch in red and blue.
