Oliver Glasner has officially started his duties at Crystal Palace after replacing Roy Hodgson.

The Austrian is already getting down to work with his players on the training field at Copers Cope in Beckenham – although plenty of fans are wondering who the man from Salzburg could add to his squad this summer.

Interestingly, there is one player that has previously shone under Oliver Glasner – who Crystal Palace have a decent chance of signing this summer…

Crystal Palace should make move for Daichi Kamada

Well, the name Daichi Kamada might ring a bell for some readers.

The Japan international was a key cog under Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt, playing a crucial role in the German outfit’s UEFA Europa League success in 2022 with five goals in 13 appearances.

In total, Kamada scored 25 goals in 93 appearances while working under the 49-year-old.

The man from Iyo also provided 12 assists – meaning he was involved in a goal every 2.5 games under Glasner.

A very impressive record – to say the least.

Aside from Eberechi Eze, Crystal Palace do not really have an central attacking midfielder who can trouble opponents in the final third like Kamada, and with the 27-year-old set to become a free agent when his contract with Lazio expires in July, Dougie Freedman should be all over a deal.

Lazio seem unlikely to keep Daichi Kamada

A move to south London could well be in the pipeline for Kamada, as Lazio – who he joined on a free transfer back in August 2023 – do not seem to value him.

The Lazio No.6 has only made just eight starts from a possible 24 in Serie A.

Kamada did actually negotiate an option to extend his contract with Lazio by a further three years if he enjoyed the 2023/24 campaign.

However – according to Calciomercato – the Japanese midfielder is unhappy at Lazio, which suggests he is highly likely to become a free agent in July.

If that happens, Freedman must do all he can to reunite Kamada with Glasner at Selhurst Park.
