Nottingham Forest have just made a bid to sign Sam Johnstone on loan from Crystal Palace.
That is according to The Athletic.
So, what is the situation involving Sam Johnstone at Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
Nottingham Forest want Sam Johnstone
Well – according to The Athletic – Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have made an approach to sign the England international on loan, with an obligation to buy the glovesman on a permanent basis this summer.
However, Crystal Palace have rejected the offer.
Furthermore, The Athletic add that Johnstone is highly likely to stay at Selhurst Park this month, despite slipping behind Dean Henderson in the pecking order under Roy Hodgson.
The £43,000-a-week man started the season as No.1 for Crystal Palace, although a calf injury in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool opened the door for Henderson to secure a starting role, following his £20m summer move from Manchester United.

If Crystal Palace were to sanction a departure for Johnstone this month, it would leave Henderson and Remi Matthews as Hodgson’s only senior goalkeeping options.
Joe Whitworth – who made two Premier League appearances last season – is also part of the goalkeeping union at Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace still trying to sign Adam Wharton
There is another mention of Crystal Palace in The Athletic’s update.
It is said that Blackburn No.23 Adam Wharton remains in Dougie Freedman’s sights despite the Championship outfit rejecting an £18.5m bid.
David Ornstein explains that Crystal Palace will continue to work on the deal and try to find an agreement.

If Crystal Palace and Blackburn fail to strike a deal, Birmingham No.19 Jordan James could end up at Selhurst Park instead – Alan Nixon believes an approach has already been made as Freedman searches for alternatives to Wharton.
Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Crystal Palace, as further transfer activity is expected.
