SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Crystal Palace are planning a second attempt to sign Torino’s Sasa Lukic, after failing with a January swoop.
If we are to land the 24-year-old, however, we must fend off Tottenham, who are also keen on signing the Torino No.7.
Tutto Mercato Web say that our offer in January did not suit what the Serie A side were looking for – they add that he also has admirers in Italy.
Regardless of what happened in January, bringing Lukic to Selhurst Park in the summer feels like it would be a sensible move.
In what respect? Well, the 17-cap Serbia international knows our captain, Luka Milivojevic, pretty well.
Aside from the fact they’re both Serbian, they’ve actually played together on three occasions as Transfermarkt shows.
Interestingly, the duo won all three of those matches together, as Transfermarkt shows their points per game from those outings stands at three.
By that logic, you could argue that they work well together in midfield.
You could also argue that we have too many midfielders already – James McArthur, James McCarthy, Jairo Riedewald, Jeffrey Schlupp and Milivojevic are all options for Roy Hodgson, as is Cheikhou Kouyate.
However, the 73-year-old has often chopped and changed his midfield this term, so perhaps someone who can become one of the first names on the teamsheet – as Milivojevic already is – would be welcome.
