Crystal Palace are now in talks to sign Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Telegraph believe the France international has become a topic of discussion during talks between the Eagles and the west Londoners over a deal for Maxence Lacroix – which is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

It would certainly not be the first time Crystal Palace have taken a loanee from Chelsea, after previously signing the likes of Patrick Bamford, Loic Remy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Michy Batshuayi, Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell from the Blues on temporary deals.

So, who is Disasi? Let’s take a closer look.

How much is Maxence Lacroix worth? 🤔

Meet Axel Disasi: The exiled Chelsea star who suffered relegation with West Ham

Let’s not beat around the bush – this would be quite an underwhelming arrival, albeit an acceptable one should it only be a loan deal.

Disasi was exiled at Chelsea last summer by Enzo Maresca after consistently delivering poor performances following his £38.8m move from Monaco in August 2023.

A loan move to Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign prior to that development did little to help the France international rebuild his reputation, as the Villans opted against a permanent move.

Another loan to a side who play in claret and blue did see some improvement from Disasi as he became something of a fan favourite in the second half of last season at West Ham, although his efforts were still not enough to help the Hammers avoid relegation to the Championship.

The 28-year-old is understood to earn £80,000-a-week at Chelsea. It remains to be seen how much of that salary Crystal Palace would have to take on if a deal materialised.

It sounds like Crystal Palace have work to do in order to convince the Frenchman to join anyway.

Fabrizio Romano claimed on Thursday morning that Disasi currently doesn’t want to sign for Crystal Palace.

Therefore, talks with Chelsea over Lacroix are likely to drag out unless the UEFA Conference League winners can find an alternative replacement.
