Here are four Crystal Palace players who could possibly leave in the 2024 January transfer window, be it to try and pursue more minutes or to make the next big step in their career.
Crystal Palace have a lot of exciting talent and due to this a lot of big clubs are circling for our players. It was probably a surprise to many that we managed to keep our top players, aside from Wilfried Zaha.
As well as the star players, there are also fringe players who the club could easily sell in the winter transfer window. Some may look for loans, as Crystal Palace have some exciting academy stars.
Palace players who could leave in the 2024 January transfer window
Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are all Palace players who could definitely be playing at the highest level. Despite this, there is no way the club, or Roy Hodgson, would allow them to all leave in one window. With the top squad the club have, there is always going to be the possibility that the Eagles could lose a major player every transfer window.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi
The 21-year-old academy winger made a name for himself on loan at Charlton last season, where he managed to score 15 goals and pick up eight assists in League One. Many Palace fans expected him to head out on loan, and many Championship clubs, including current leaders of the division Leicester City, were interested in signing him on loan.
The lack of depth at the Eagles and injuries to players like Olise meant he stayed. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s minutes have been limited, so if Palace have a fully fit squad he could easily be loaned out in January 2024.
Eberechi Eze
Eberechi Eze is a player no Palace fan will want to leave but it may be something that is out of theirs, and most importantly, owner Steve Parish’s hands. Crystal Palace have been reportedly trying to offer Eze a new deal, which at the moment, hasn’t been signed yet. Eze’s current contract expires in June 2025, and this means that he could leave the club on a free transfer in the near future. Should he choose not to sign a new deal, the Eagles could end up losing a lot of value on him, with their current valuation at £70m.
This will be impossible to ask for next summer as clubs will wait until January 2025 and offer him a contract for June 2025. If he doesn’t sign a deal, then January 2024 could be the time Palace would feel like they have to sell the make the most money, especially when Manchester City were interested in the summer.
Chris Richards
Chris Richards attracted late interest from Union Berlin in the summer, but the Eagles wouldn’t let him leave without signing a replacement. Now, the club have Rob Holding at centre-back as cover, as well as Richards. Of course, Palace will be very happy to have two good cover options for Guehi and Andersen, but Richards has had limited game time and he will not want to lose his place in the USA squad. It could be a case of a player leaving just to play consistent football.
Joachim Andersen
Joachim Andersen attracted interest from fellow Premier League side Newcastle, and with his form this season, this interest will increase rather than go away. The defender has two goals to his name in the Premier League and has been great in defence for the majority of the season. Since the transfer window has shut, Andersen has admitted that he would like to leave Palace for a bigger club. This could see the Eagles agree to let him leave in January, but only if a huge offer comes in.
