Mark Bright has not always hit the nail on the head at Crystal Palace in his role as Loan Manager.
The 63-year-old has overseen some success in this position, with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi shining at Charlton and Joe Whitworth making a name for himself at Exeter last season.
However, some other moves have failed. For example, Tayo Adaramola has failed to kick on since making his debut under Patrick Vieira in March 2022, despite loans to Coventry, RWD Molenbeek, Stockport, Bradford and Leyton Orient.
Sean Grehan also had a bad experience at Carlisle.
Now, Hindolo Mustapha is unfortunately struggling to shine after Crystal Palace sent the wonderkid to Nurnberg for the 2025/26 campaign.
Miroslav Klose has completely ignored Hindolo Mustapha
The Sierra Leone international was named U21 Player of the Season at Crystal Palace last season, following a campaign the official CPFC website described as “sensational” – in which he scored 11 goals and assisted seven more across 29 appearances.
It earned Mustapha a new contract and a seemingly exciting loan to Nurnberg.
However, it has not yet gone to plan for the 19-year-old.
Mustapha is yet to even make the bench for Nurnberg as Miroslav Klose – manager of the German side – continues to overlook the attacking midfielder.
BILD have even written about the situation. The German news outlet claim the teenager is “apparently” experiencing “major adjustment and motivation issues” since moving to Nurnberg.
Last time out, Mustapha could not even get onto the pitch during a Regionalliga clash against VfB Eichstatt – a reserve team fixture – spending the entirety of the match on the bench.
Mustapha is arguably the most exciting prodigy at Crystal Palace right now, so if this situation fails to change, Bright needs to explore the prospect of recalling him to SE25.
Matheus Franca and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi are faring well away from Crystal Palace
Fortunately, it is not all bad news on the loan front.
Matheus Franca is settling in at Vasco da Gama, impressing Brazilian news outlet Globo as well as his manager, Fernando Diniz.
Crystal Palace spent £26m to sign the South American from Flamengo in August 2023, so Steve Parish will be eager to see this loan move develop the 21-year-old into a genuine option for the first-team.
Rak-Sakyi is also doing well in Turkey, scoring his first two goals for Caykur Rizespor in a 5-2 win over Antalyaspor on Friday night.
Hopefully, Klose gives Mustapha a chance to shine soon, or else this loan needs to be terminated.
