Manchester United are sniffing around Oliver Glasner.
Crystal Palace are understood to be aware of the fact those at Old Trafford admire the Austrian, as Ruben Amorim struggles to improve Manchester United – who currently sit 14th in the Premier League.

Manchester United can hire Oliver Glasner for free in the summer when his contract expires in July 2026 – although Matt Hobbs is working on an extension – but how much would Crystal Palace be entitled to if an appointment was made before then?

The reliable Williams – Head of Football Finance and Governance Content for GRV Media – says: “Palace will be getting twitchy with only nine months left on Glasner’s deal, especially if it’s accurate that he turned down the first offer in the summer.
“Unlike players, managers can’t go and sign a pre-contract deal with overseas clubs in January, though they could informally negotiate with another team and have a gentleman’s agreement to leave.
“With Man United or any other domestic team, I think that would be more difficult because they have relationships to protect within the Premier League. Steve Parish is a prominent voice at shareholder meetings and is often seen as one of the figures with the most sway outside the so-called Big Six. So, he’s not someone you want to make an enemy of. I don’t think there will be anything underhand.
“However, if United wanted to buy Glasner out of his deal now, it’s probably going to simply be the value of the nine remaining months on the contract. That’s likely around £3m – £4m. There will probably be some legal complexity within that and it’s never as straightforward as the headline figures suggest, but it will be somewhere in that ballpark.”
Gareth Southgate would reject Manchester United – according to the Mirror – meaning there is one less option on the table for those at Old Trafford to consider.
Steve Parish must convince Oliver Glasner he means business
We Are Palace understand Glasner needs assurances that Crystal Palace will match his ambitions before he commits his future at Selhurst Park.
Parish and the Austrian do not appear to be on the same page in the market, with the Crystal Palace boss now criticising late signings in two successive summer transfer windows.
A disruptive summer where Glasner almost lost Marc Guehi as well as Eberechi Eze presumably did little to improve their relationship, although Parish is not giving up hope of keeping the 51-year-old.
