Man United look as though they’ll be on the search for a new manager in the coming weeks, with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner tipped to replace Ruben Amorim.

Man United are struggling once again. The Red Devils are slumped in 14th place of the Premier League table and Ruben Amorim is coming under increasing pressure at Old Trafford.

He’s been in the job less than a year. But several names are already being tipped to replace the Portuguese manager including Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace.

Glasner’s side sit in 3rd place of the table after Crystal Palace’s impressive 2-1 win over Liverpool in their last outing, with the club next in action in the Conference League on Thursday evening.

Gareth Southgate’s stance on replacing Ruben Amorim at Man United

Along with Glasner, another name mentioned alongside the Man United job is former England boss Gareth Southgate. However, an emerging report from Daily Mirror has revealed that ‘Southgate would reject an approach from Manchester United’ in the near future.

The same report adds that ‘Southgate is not in any rush to return to football’ but that the 55-year-old is ‘keeping his options open’ ahead of a potential return to management.

For Crystal Palace, it may come as bad news as it’s one more contender for the Man United job out of the running, and it may only put Glasner more firmly in the crosshairs at Old Trafford should Amorim lose his job.

Oliver Glasner’s stance on leaving Crystal Palace for Man United

Recent reports have suggested that Glasner would jump at the chance to take the Man United job. But speaking to We Are Palace recently, chief transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey revealed that Glasner is happy to stay at Crystal Palace, providing his ambitions are met by the owners.

Bailey explained: “Oliver Glasner is still Crystal Palace manager, he still has ambitions in South London – but ultimately the club need to match them. If Glasner is a top-four quality manager as he looks to be, can Palace keep him? Maybe but it is going to be very difficult.”

Bailey also went on to add that the club are working on a new deal for Glasner by New Year. But that might prove too late with Amorim seemingly on the brink of being sacked at Man United, potentially depending on how his next few results pan out.
