On Monday night, Crystal Palace began life post-Roy Hodgson with a draw in which two players thrived in the new system.
With Paddy McCarthy in charge for a trip to Goodison Park following Roy Hodgson‘s stepping down as manager, a vital point was gained.
A 1-1 draw with Everton ultimately is a result everyone will be pleased by, although Crystal Palace looked far better than they have in recent months.
This also came with a system change to a back three which is likely to be the case under new boss Oliver Glasner, who’ll have enjoyed what he saw.
In this shape, two players have already shown it suits them perfectly and could be about to love playing under the Austrian.
Two Crystal Palace stars were on fire against Everton
In the game against Everton, the use of wing-backs was very impressive as both Tyrick Mitchell and Daniel Munoz thrived with more attacking authority.
Both found themselves in goal-scoring opportunities but aside from that were just far more of a threat than they have tended to be otherwise.
On the left, Mitchell was excellent and scored a 7.2 match rating from FotMob, who actually had his position as a left midfielder. He created one chance, missed one big chance, had 73 touches, made nine defensive actions and also won 10 duels.
On the right, Munoz got a match rating of 7 as a right midfielder. He created two chances, had 54 touches, made five defensive actions and won two duels.
This pair are likely to only improve further as Glasner begins his work with several others in line to benefit.

The improvements in the players weren’t just seen in both wing-backs, but all across the team really.
In particular, Adam Wharton and Chris Richards were phenomenal in their new roles.
Richards particularly thrived as a centre-half, while Wharton looks like the real deal in midfield and already looks like a bargain after his January move.
All of a sudden, there is a positive feeling at Selhurst Park and we cannot wait for this Saturday’s game against Burnley.
