After a first win against Premier League opposition on Sunday, the trend continued on Wednesday night against Aston Villa.

Amid the early season struggles for Crystal Palace, there was a belief that the Eagles were just one good result away from getting back on track and starting a streak.

Well, on Sunday the Eagles defeated Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park and predictably, this led to another win on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

Crystal Palace travelled to Villa Park to take on Unai Emery’s Champions League Aston Villa side and walked out as the club progressed into the quarter-finals.

Here is how the game went for Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner

In the game, Crystal Palace went 1-0 ahead within eight minutes with Eberechi Eze extending his hot streak in front of goal – following his magical assist for Jean-Philippe Mateta on Sunday.

It only took Villa 15 minutes to strike back as Jhon Duran scored – as he tends to always do this season.

However, in the 64th minute came the defining moment of the game with Daichi Kamada scoring a brilliant second for the Eagles – what turned out to be the winner.

This is the biggest moment of Kamada’s career so far at Crystal Palace and should be the catalyst for him to improve going forward.

There was another story in the game, with Matt Turner making his debut in goal – here is how Eagles supporters have reacted to his display on X.

On Wednesday night, Turner was arguably the difference maker for Crystal Palace as he made eight saves – more than making up for his blunder in the first half.

But for one fan, letting the goal in was enough to warrant critique: “Matt Turner is shocking!!!”

“Matt Turner HAS to be doing better there”, commented a second.

However, on the flip side – the majority of fans gave Turner his flowers for a solid debut in yellow.

“Matt Turner has had a good game btw”, argued one fan.

Meanwhile, another fan summed it up perfectly: “Aside from the goal, I thought he was decent.”

A final fan stuck up for Turner even more: “Matt Turner has actually had a decent match today. But since the goal he allowed was saveable, the discourse is just gonna be about how much he sucks.”
